General Pediatrics
Whatever the reason for your child's stay at Levine Children's Hospital, you will have access to a comprehensive range of general, specialized and critical care pediatric services for infants, children and adolescents. Each patient is cared for by a highly specialized multidisciplinary team of pediatric professionals.
Some children unexpectedly enter the world weeks or even months ahead of schedule. For these newborns, our 53-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery (NICN) often serves as their first home. Offering the highest rated level of neonatal care and services, our Level IV nursery treats newborns who arrive critically ill with heart conditions, breathing problems or other congenital issues.
The NICN's team of compassionate caregivers includes 10 neonatologists and a neonatal nursing staff specially trained to care for sick infants and babies. The NICN is equipped with the latest in medical technology including ECMO, a heart-lung bypass that supports neonates with respiratory failure. The NICN staff also provides education, counseling and emotional support to new parents of high-risk infants.
Our NICN provides around-the-clock monitoring and care for these special babies, bringing security and peace of mind to all families whether they face a complex or normal birth.
Pediatric Intensive Care
Our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) provides the advanced care seriously injured or ill children need. Pediatric intensivists and a staff of specially trained pediatric critical care nurses, work closely with a highly specialized team of Respiratory Therapists, a Child Life Specialist and a Social Worker designated to the unit.
In keeping with our hospital's commitment to family-centered care, we encourage family visitation and provide an area for families to rest and relax that's reassuringly close by.
If your child experiences trauma, our Hemby Pediatric Trauma Institute coordinates trauma services for children at Levine Children's Hospital. From admission to discharge, these staff members work with the hospital staff, closely monitoring each pediatric trauma patient's progress.
Levine Children's Hospital provides comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation services for children and adolescents who have experienced a debilitating illness or injury. Our comprehensive, nationally-recognized pediatric program serves children of all ages from infants to teens.
